## Introduction

Ctrl Hub is a robust cloud-based SaaS platform designed to automate safety and compliance management across organisations. It supports the management of diverse assets including personnel, vehicles, and projects, helping businesses reduce administrative overhead and improve operational control. Despite its comprehensive feature set, early versions of Ctrl Hub struggled with usability issues that limited user engagement and overall effectiveness.

## Challenge

Ctrl Hub’s innovative vision was held back by a complex and unintuitive user experience. Although packed with powerful tools, the platform’s previous design made navigation and task completion difficult, particularly when managing assets, assigning tasks, and handling notifications. Our challenge was to lead a complete redesign focused on improving usability and efficiency. This involved restructuring the information architecture, revamping key interface elements, and creating a flexible design system with both light and dark mode options. Our goal was to transform Ctrl Hub into a platform that feels natural to use, even with its broad and complex functionality.

## User Experience (UX)

The platform is primarily used by three types of users: Administrators/Managers: who oversee operations and require a dashboard for at-a-glance views and overviews of various tabs such as people and vehicles. Project Managers: who have slightly limited rights as compared to administrators but need to create projects, assign people tasks, and manage folders. Employees: who need to view their tasks, projects, and receive notifications.

Due to time constraints, we utilised existing user research conducted by Ctrl Hub on previous platform versions. This valuable data provided insights into user needs, behaviours, and pain points, guiding our redesign process. We audited the current platform and identified the need for an improved information architecture. We strategically grouped related functions and features to align with users' mental models, improving navigation and efficiency.

## User Interface (UI)

The UI was redesigned to enhance accessibility and visual appeal. We introduced a dual design system with light and dark modes to cater to user preferences. Key components like dashboards, widgets, and notifications were revamped to improve the user experience and overall efficiency.

## Result

Following our comprehensive UX/UI redesign, we delivered detailed design specifications and assets to Ctrl Hub’s development team. Throughout the build phase, we maintained close collaboration to ensure the final product faithfully reflected our design vision. The redesign resulted in a significantly improved user interface, making it easier for organisations to automate and manage safety and compliance tasks. The enhanced platform reduces operational burden and improves workflow efficiency by simplifying complex processes and providing a clean, adaptable interface tailored to users’ needs.
