Rebranding and designing an intuitive coaching app with booking, scheduling, and client management tools tailored for sports professionals.

**Year:** 2021

**Client:** OneXP

**Industry:** Sports

**What We Delivered:** Branding, UI, UX, App

## Introduction

OneXp is a mobile app designed for sports coaches who want to streamline their business. It brings together essential tools for client booking, scheduling, communication, accounting, and performance tracking, making it easier for coaches to focus on what they do best: helping people move better.

## Challenge

OneXp approached us with a promising idea and an ambitious vision: build an app that supports coaches with everything they need to manage and grow their practice.

They needed a brand identity that felt credible but approachable, a seamless user experience that worked across a range of sporting disciplines, and a video that clearly communicated the app’s benefits. Most importantly, the product had to balance simplicity with powerful functionality for time-poor users.

## Branding

We conducted word association and brainstorming sessions to generate potential names. We categorised and prioritised the names based on their relevance to the concept of improvement, teams, platforms, and performance. We also explored gaming terms and checked the availability of URLs. The client ultimately chose the name 'OneXp'.

To reflect the energy and movement associated with sports, we designed a fresh and modern visual identity for OneXp. We used italicised text to convey a sense of forward momentum. We also provided graphical elements as a style language and showcased mockups to demonstrate how the brand would appear in the app.

## User Experience (UX)

Working closely with the client, we developed user stories that outlined the features and functions specific to the app's target users: coaches and clients. These user stories guided our design process. We then created wireframes to visualise the step-by-step interactions for each objective, including main functionalities, the dashboard/home feed, booking processes, messaging, calendars, lessons, and a unique video editing feature. These wireframes were transformed into a clickable prototype to observe user interactions and identify areas for improvement.

## User Interface (UI)

After ensuring the app's navigability through wireframing, we progressed to the high fidelity design phase. Here, we incorporated the branding and brand language into the app, giving it the final visual appearance. The high fidelity designs were connected and transformed into an interactive prototype.

## Promotional Video

As part of the project, we created an informational trailer to be released alongside the app launch. The process involved storyboarding to align the video's message and narrative with the client's intentions, which focused on showcasing the app's features. After finalising the storyboard, we proceeded to create a rough edit, refining the video by adjusting timings, transitions, and making necessary changes.

To create the video, we combined stock footage of people engaging in sports with screen recordings from the app. Using the Boris FX Mocha plugin, we achieved the desired effect of tracking the app screens onto a phone screen. This involved pinpointing the corners of the animated phone video and tracking the phone's corners throughout the video. By projecting the app's screen recordings onto the corner pins, we captured the movements of the phone as if it were tracking the actions on the screen.

## Result

- A refreshed brand identity that communicates confidence and clarity

- A mobile-first UX built with coaches’ real-world workflows in mind

- A promotional video that educates and excites new users

- Positive early user feedback and strong engagement at launch

Our work helped position OneXp as a serious player in the digital sports coaching space, confidently competing with more established platforms.

## Why It Matters

Coaches don’t have time to wrestle with clunky software or generic tools. They need something tailored to their needs, something fast, clear, and dependable. By redesigning OneXp from the ground up, we gave coaches a digital toolkit that not only works but works for them. And for OneXp, that means standing out in a competitive space, building user trust from day one, and laying the groundwork for future growth.
